Young Hands, New Skills

Our Young Hands, New Skills program introduces kids to traditional boatwright skills including ship caulking, hammering boat nails, using a spokeshave, hand-sawing, and more. During the session we will have stations set up around the joiner shop where kids learn to use basic hand tools with one-on-one instruction from our experienced volunteers. Participants will develop an understanding of how each skill applies to traditional wooden boat building.
