Rushton Rowboat Model 109
This double-ended rowboat was designed in the 1880's by John Rushton. His NY shop built thousands of small boats in a wide variety of styles, and the Model 109 is recognized today as being one of his best.
This boat was built by the GHB Community Boat Restoration Program as a prototype for a boat to be built at the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival "Boatbuilding Challenge". Armed with a full set of patterns and bolstered with good coffee, the four-member GHB team built a sister to this boat in a scorching 31-1/2 hours!
The Model 109 is best suited for experienced rowers. Although not as stable as the flat-bottom designs, it moves very easily through the water, either rowed solo or with a passenger. The GHB's spoon-blade oars are a perfect complement to this efficient hull. Capacity: 400lbs. Seats: 1-2 Length: 14'3" Power: Human Built: 2019
