At 11AM Saturday August 31st Tom Regan will give a presentation describing the building of his newly launched 30’ Iain Oughtred designed sharpie sailboat IDYL in the Eddon Boatyard House.
Tickets: $10 Non Member $8 Member
The IDYL will be moored at the end of the boatyard dock for viewing all day on Saturday August 31st.
About Tom & his Sharpie IDYL:
Regan, the BoatShop’s longtime Community Boat Restoration program leader and master boatwright, recently retired as owner of Grapeview Point Boatworks where he built dozens of wooden smallcraft from 8’ to 30.’ The dozens of his built boats notwithstanding Tom may have created his magnum opus in IDYL. She is that beautiful, and a stunning example of one man’s commitment to his craft.
The sharpies keel was laid in May of 2022 and the finished sailboat was launched in June of 2024. IDYL is pure sailing vessel, she has no motor, and Tom will sail her to Gig Harbor from Grapeview just prior to the August 31 event.
